This full-day seminar blends theory and hands-on practice, giving rangers and officers the skills and confidence to handle dogs safely and responsibly. RSPCA will be onsite providing welfare oversight to ensure all dogs are treated with care and respect.
✨ Morning Session – Theory (9:30 am – 12:30 pm) Understanding canine behaviour (safe, worried & unsafe dogs) Triggers for aggression, fear, and avoidance Stress, arousal & environmental impacts Legislative context: obligations & welfare considerations PPE, lead & muzzle protocols + welfare checks
✨ Afternoon Session – Practical Handling (1:15 pm – 4:00 pm) Safe approaches & catch techniques (leads, catch poles, muzzles) Dog removal & transport protocols Scenario practice with welfare-approved dogs & dedicated handlers ❓ Q&A 4:00 – 4:30 pm
